Staying Strong in Post-Menopause

Post-menopause is an opportunity for women to reflect on their choices and their goals for the future.

We know that bone and muscle loss can occur with estrogen decline, but there is SO much that women can do to stay strong, fit, and healthy!

At the top of the list is strength training.

Here are some of the benefits from lifting weights:

  • a strong body that allows you to take on other athletic activities with ease, such as running, hiking, and cycling

  • increased energy

  • a more positive outlook

  • improved body composition: more muscle and less fat

  • decreased mental health issues, particularly anxiety and depression

  • a dramatic uptick in confidence and self-belief

  • improved metabolic health

Once women commit to regular gym sessions, other areas of their health often simultaneously improve: women start to make smarter food choices; they stay hydrated; and, they prioritize their sleep, which is so critical for overall health!

If you are new to the gym, start slowly and work your way up. Sometimes, hiring a trainer to get guidance and a clear plan can be the kickstart that women need to propel them into a fitness lifestyle.

Give it a try - you won't regret it!
